Respect or Love God?

Exodus 19:3-6,9,20-24 Then Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the house of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites”... The LORD said to Moses, “I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you.” Then Moses told the LORD what the people had said... The LORD descended to the top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of the mountain. So Moses went up and the LORD said to him, “Go down and warn the people so they do not force their way through to see the LORD and many of them perish. Even the priests, who approach the LORD, must consecrate themselves, or the LORD will break out against them.” Moses said to the LORD, “The people cannot come up Mount Sinai, because you yourself warned us, ‘Put limits around the mountain and set it apart as holy.’” The LORD replied, “Go down and bring Aaron up with you. But the priests and the people must not force their way through to come up to the LORD, or he will break out against them.”

We come across another power-packed chapter and another powerful revelation of God. Moses is obedient and faithful to God as was called to be and God was clear and concise in His direction to Moses.

The relationship Moses shared with God is one of master and slave and the fear of God that Moses had was evident in His total submission. Is that what God expects of us today?

Pre-Christ the world lived under law and fear. Mankind was given the freedom to chose and we chose ourselves over God and lived in sin, something that was detestable in God's sight.

God showed great mercy towards the Israelites because of His love for them and redeemed them from their bondage and slavery because He chose to set them free and set them apart for Himself.

Regardless of their heart response to God's blessing, God continued to direct them through clear and specific instructions. There was great love shown but also serious judgment and God had to enforce His authority over man.

When Jesus was sent to us by God, the purpose of Jesus' life was to become a sin offering for us to God. Mankind could not live up to the requirements of the law as was proven by the Israelites and no sacrifice would be good enough to pay for the sins of the world, let alone each man.

Jesus' life was marked by great love and compassion and His death brought us life and freedom from bondage. This freedom has come at a great price of Jesus' own blood and should never be treated disrespectfully for Jesus is God and in Him is all authority given by God the Father Himself.

The very name Jesus is above every name in the world and the dark forces around us beg for mercy in His presence. Today we are warned about making light of our relationship with Him and taking Him for granted.

Today we are reminded that we are saved because we are God's treasured possessions and that we are called to be priests and a holy nation. Our heritage may not be Jewish but our adopted heritage sure is because we were bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ.

For those who have not experienced salvation from sin, I beg you to call on Jesus right now in the quietness of your mind and submit your brokenness to Him for His healing touch. If you want to know more, click here.

For those of us who have been saved by Jesus' saving blood, lets not make light this great privilege we have to be called God's own but lets seriously take up the great responsibility He has given us and be of service to the one who saved us and gave us life eternal just because He loved us!

In His Loving Service,

1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.
