Love is a word that has four shades for its meaning. It is essential to know that all the four play a vital role in our lives. This universally accepted perspective is developed in the book "The Four Loves," written by CS Lewis (1898-1963), a British Medieval literature scholar and the author of the popular science fiction novels "Chronicles of Narnia". Out of these four shades of love, even if one is missing, it will have an adverse effect on the other three.

Oftentimes we go through life without a care just doing our own thing and it is in the difficult moments that we wonder where our help might come from. These trying circumstances give us reason to ask the deeper questions of life in terms of our purpose, the meaning of life, whether morality exits and what our destiny is. Only the Christian faith gives us answers to all four of those questions and based on these answers we have the hope to live.

If you have spent your adult life trying to live up to the mothering standard set in the thirty-first chapter of Proverbs (and I know some women do), you might as well just go ahead and take up permanent residence in the I-can’t-quite-measure-up lane.
